【摘要】:Thisguideassiststheuserinselectingastrappingmaterialandconfigurationforinitialhandling,transit,andstoragetests.Itdescribesgeneralunit(load)types,strappingproperties,unit-strappinginteraction,weightconsiderations,unitshearplanes,componentfrictionalcharacteristics,andunitgeometry.1.1Thisguidecoversinformationonflatstrappingmaterials(steelornonmetallic)fortheprospectiveuserwantinginitialguidanceinselectingastrappingmaterialandappliedconfigurationforuseinpackaging(closing,reinforcing,baling,unitizing,orpalletizing)andloading(loadunitizationandsecurementtotransportvehicle)applications.Theuseappliestohandling,securement,storage,anddistributionsystems.1.2Carrierassociationshaveestablishedcertainpackagingandloadingrequirementsthatinsomecasesspecifyatypeofstrap,theminimumsizeorstrength,orboth,andtypeofjointorseal,orboth,thatmustbeusedforcertaintypesofshipmentsorundercertainconditions.Usersshouldconsultwiththeircarriersinitiallytodetermineifthereareapplicable,publishedrequirements.Individualcarriersmayestablishtheirownrequirements(see2.2).1.3LimitationsThisguideisnotintendedtogivespecificinformationastohowstrappingmustbeusedinanyparticularpackagingorloadingsituation.Ratheritisintendedtobeinformationalinnatureandisofferedasastartingpointfortesting.Theneedforthoroughusertestingistobeemphasizedasisareviewofpertinentregulationsthatcaninfluencetheselectionofsizes,types,andpossibly,applicationmethods.1.4Thesectionsinthisguideappearinthefollowingorder:1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificsafetyhazardstatementsaregiveninSection5andNote13.1and15.3.
