【摘要】:Background8212;IntheHEUIfuelsystem,theengineoilfromtheoilsumpnotonlylubricatestheengine,italsosuppliesahigh-pressureoilsystemthattakesoilfromthemaingalleryandpressurizesitupto20.7MPainaplungerpump(seeFig.A1.1).Thisoilisusedtooperateunitinjectorsthat,whenusedincombinationwithintensifiers,increasethefuelinjectionpressureupto145MPa,independentofenginespeed.Theelectroniccontrolspermitvariedinjectiontiminganddurationtoprovideoptimumfueleconomyandemissions.Thissystemmay,however,circulatealltheoilinthesumpinapproximately8s;asaconsequence,aerationoftheoilcanoccurwithsomeengineoils.Internationaldeterminedthat8%oilaerationwasthelimitbeyondwhichengineoperationandperformancewouldbeimpairedinactualservice.Priorto1994,theabilityofanenginelubricanttoresistaerationwasmeasuredbyTestMethodD892.DuringthedevelopmentoftheAPICG-4categoryin1994,however,itwasfoundthatthisbenchtestdidnotcorrelatewithaerationintheInternationalT444Eengine.TheEOATwasdeveloped,therefore,toprovideabettermeasurementoftheabilityofalubricanttoresistaerationduringengineoperation.ThistesthasbeenincludedinAPICG-4,CH-4,andCI-4categoriesforheavy-dutydieselengineoils.Method8212;Thedataobtainedfromtheuseofthistestmethodprovideacomparativeindexoftheaerationresistanceofengineoilsusedinmedium-andheavy-dutytruckdieselengines.Use8212;Thetendencyofengineoilstoaerateindirect-injection,turbochargeddieselenginesisinfluencedbyavarietyoffactors,includingengineoilformulationvariables,oiltemperature,sumpdesignandcapacity,residencetimeoftheoilinthesump,andthedesignofthepressurizedoilsystems.Insomeengine-oil-activatedinjectionsystems,theresidencetimeoftheoilinthesumpisinsufficienttoallowdissipationofaerationfromtheoil.Asaconsequence,aeratedoilcanbecirculatedtotheinjectorintensifiers,adverselyaffectingtheinjectiontimingcharacteristicsandengineoperation.1.1Thistestmethodwasdesignedtoevaluateanengineoil''sresistancetoaerationinautomotivedieselengineservice.ItiscommonlyreferredtoastheEngineOilAerationTest(EOAT).Thetestisconductedusingaspecified7.3L,direct-injection,turbochargeddieselengineonadynamometerteststand.ThistestmethodwasdevelopedasareplacementforTestMethodD892afteritwasdeterminedthatthisbenchtestdidnotcorrelatewithoilaerationinactualservice.TheEOATwasfirstincludedinAPIServiceCategoryCG-4in1995.Note18212;CompaniontestmethodsusedtoevaluateengineoilperformanceforspecificationrequirementsarediscussedinthelatestrevisionofSpecificationD4485.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.2.1Exception8212;WherethereisnodirectSIequivalent,forexample,screwthreads,nationalpipethreads/diameters,andtubingsize.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafety......
